Celebrating Earth Day and 10 Years in Business

As we celebrate Earth Day, we reflect on how it all started. Ten years ago, my wife Kelly and I had a vision for sustainable landscaping practices in San Diego, specifically North Coastal San Diego County.

Growing up in Oceanside, California, I didn’t see any native plants growing naturally in or around our residential and commercial landscapes. Later, when I moved to San Luis Obispo, I experienced the exact opposite which gave me a sense of what California originally looked like. These beautiful native gardens planted the seed for my desire to return our landscape to its natural habitat.

I moved back to San Diego and pursued my passion for surfing which led me to get involved with the Surfrider Foundation. Being surrounded by like-minded people who were awakened to the consciousness of preserving our local habitats, increased my drive to protect, beautify, and conserve our natural landscape. These experiences inspired the development of Kelly Green Native Landscape in 2010 and have grown our mom-and-pop vision of native landscaping into a successful landscape design, installation, and consulting company. With more than 10 years experience working with a trusted team, we have turned our dream into a much-needed resource for our community.

Over the years our team has learned so much and gained a deeper wisdom of our landscaping niche, which we love to share with our clients. We look forward to many more years of growing and serving our community. We all need to remember that we are the change; we are the good stewards of this world now, and for the next generation.
